What size dumpster do I need?

How are dumpsters measured?

Dumpsters are measured in cubic yards. A cubic yard is equal to a dresser with dimensions of 3 feet tall, 2 feet wide and 4.5ft long. This means a 15 yard dumpster can hold roughly 15 dressers of this size. A washing machine is typically 3/4 of a cubic yard to 1 cubic yard in size.

20 Yard Dumpster

A 20 yard dumpster holds about 8-10 pickup truck loads. It is good for small to medium remodeling jobs and cleanups such as a garage. Lighter demolition materials will also go well in here. We allow up to 20 squares of roofing at a time in this. If comparing to trash bags helps you then this is comparable to 110-130 33 gallon trash bags. The dimensions of the outside of the 20 yard roll off are 8 feet wide, 15 feet long and 6 feet high.

15 Yard Dumpster

A 15 yard dumpster holds about 4-5 pickup truck loads. It is good for small remodeling jobs and cleanups such as a small garage. Lighter demolition materials will also go well in here. We allow up to 20 squares of roofing at a time in this. If comparing to trash bags helps you then this is comparable to 80-100 33 gallon trash bags.
